About Topopatu

“I am who I am, I was who I was. Nothing from the past still exists, and nothing from the future is formed yet.”

– Federica Pelizzari

Federica Pelizzari is an Italian Ceramic artist. She graduated from the Art College in Italy, 2006.

Topoptau was born in 2021 in Black Rock, situated on Boonwurrung Land in Australia. In her studio, Federica works on sculptural forms from small to large size. She specialised in working with terracotta clay combined with a natural fibre called ‘raffia’.

The tactile nature of terracotta, combined with the raw elegance of raffia, allows Federica to create sculptures that feel alive. Her ability to weave these materials into an artistic expression of her surroundings makes her work not only special but profoundly unique.

Federica’s work is driven by her passion for organic life and inspired by the Australian Landscape.

Her creations are the result of spiritual immersion and meditation. Each sculpture encapsulates a moment of tranquillity, a silent conversation between the mind, body, and soul.

In a world increasingly disconnected from nature, Federica Pelizzari stands as a beacon of inspiration. Through her art, she invites us to reconnect with the Earth, to embrace the silence that exists within, and to acknowledge the elements that bind us all.
